Program Overview
The Master’s parcours Énergie Électrique : Conversion, Matériaux, Développement Durable (E2-CMD) is designed to train high-level scientific and technical executives (engineers and/or researchers) specializing in electrical energy, associated conversion systems, and their applications in transportation, electrical grids, and renewable energies.
The curriculum provides a multidisciplinary foundation bridging power electronics, electrical engineering, materials science, and sustainable development. Students acquire comprehensive skills to design, analyze, and optimize static converters, electrical machines, and energy storage systems while managing the environmental and efficiency challenges of modern energy grids.
Key Academic Content & Specializations
The program combines rigorous theoretical foundations with practical engineering applications across two years:
- First Year (M1): Static converters and electrical machines, modeling and control of electrical systems, multiphysics simulation, materials for electrical engineering, applied thermal engineering, renewable energies, and electrical safety.
- Second Year (M2): Advanced core coursework in static converters, power components, thermal integration, and EMC, complemented by specialized second-year tracks (such as Power Electronics, Actuators & Control [EPAC], Sustainable Management of Electrical Energy [GD2E], and Power Integration & Materials [IPM]).
PRACTICAL PROJECTS & INDUSTRIAL COLLABORATION
The program integrates mandatory tutored projects and professional internships, allowing students to apply advanced theoretical models to real-world industrial and research problems, tackle technical specifications, and acquire valuable hands-on experience in corporate or laboratory environments.
Professional Opportunities & Career Paths
Graduates step into prominent roles across major industrial sectors and high-tech industries:
- Aeronautics, Space, and Railway Transport,
- Energy Production, Distribution, and Renewable Energies (Smart Grids),
- Industrial Installations and Electrical Equipment Manufacturing,
- Static Converters, Generators, and Electric Motors Industry
Typical roles for graduates include Technical Support Engineer, Business Engineering & Management, Electrical/Electronic Product Design Engineer, R&D Engineer, Industrial Maintenance Manager, and pathways to doctoral research (Ph.D.).
Pathway to Engineering Excellence
Co-accredited with Toulouse INP-ENSEEIHT and rooted in the EEA (Electronics, Electrical Energy, Automation) mention, the E2-CMD Master’s program delivers elite multidisciplinary training equipping future engineers to lead the transition toward sustainable electrical conversion and smart energy systems.
